The Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology invites applications for a Doctoral Research Position (PhD). The position is embedded in the DFG-funded Research Unit FOR 5930, a multidisciplinary collaboration arround Athero-Immunology between research institutions in Lübeck, Berlin, Borstel, and Kiel. Our department is leading in the field of research on antibodies targeting G-protein coupled receptors. Within the project we aim to decipher the role of the antibodies and their respective antigen in cardiovascular diseases with a focus on atherosclerosis.


Start in our team

We are looking for professional and competent support to start as soon as possible, limited until 31 March 2027.

  • The salary will be based on the German E13 TV-L scale, if terms and conditions under collective bargaining law are fulfilled

Your role:

  • Research on antigens driving the development of antibody formation in vascular diseases
  • Use of advanced techniques for deciphering immunological mechanisms and advanced bioinformatic techniques
  • Structured supervision and mentoring
  • Presentations at conferences and workshops
  • Preparation of reports and scientific publications

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed university studies in the field of molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or similar
  • Strong background in wet-lab molecular biology techniques
  • Knowledge of biostatistical and computational biology is ideal
  • Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
